Covid infection fatality rate revised downwards...again...

With thanks to Michael Senger and Joel Smalley, who both wrote about this preprint from Dr. John Ioannidis and company, and many of its implications.

Ioannidis, who has well-deserved fame as one of the top epidemiologists in the world, has focused on the question of “how lethal is covid?” since early 2020 — when dire forecasts were being made about covid and how it would kill millions of people in the United States. In this preprint, released October 13, 2022, Ioannidis et al revise downward the pre-vaccine infection fatality rate of covid to rates of less than one tenth of one percent, for individuals less than 70 years of age.

The implications of this downward revision will be obvious for individuals who are interested in calculating risk:benefit ratios for any covid therapeutic - from the controversial outpatient treatment ivermectin to the somewhat more controversial mRNA vaccines.
