Sex Ratio in Myocarditis Reports in Eudravigilance
Case reports elevated in males, particularly in adolescent age range
Here is some European data regarding myocarditis case reports after Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination. This system, Eudravigilance, holds a vast number of case reports - we can see here that approximately ten thousand cases of Tozinameran-related myocarditis are reported. Meanwhile, this system is considerably less searchable than the CDC’s VAERS system. However, we still have data by sex.
Again, as with VAERS, we see a male predominance, which appears to be most skewed at youngest ages:
There are 37 male myocarditis and 16 female myocarditis cases among 3 to 11 year olds, a sex ratio of 2:1.
In adolescents, the sex ratio is between 5:1 and 6:1 with male predominance (260 female cases, and 1234 male cases).
SUMMARY:
European adverse event database shows strong male predominance in PfizerBioNTech/myocarditis reports. This skewed sex ratio is strongest in ages 12 to 17.
