VAERS and Virality: Microorganism, Meme
why Twitter blocks, bans, and censors references to VAERS
Thesis: the “multiplier” is key component to any viral phenomenon.
The “cycle time” of a viral phenomenon, along with the multiplication factor, will affect rate of spread.
Thesis: Twitter is among fastest methods of meme dissemination on Earth at present.
At the same time, “VAERS” has not penetrated mainstream thought as a meme. Thousands or tens of thousands of VAERS tweets - and yet spread of this meme is contained. How does this work?
Hypothesis 1: VAERS hasn’t made it to TikTok or instagram (i.e. younger audiences) because it does not have a video format or expression
Hypothesis 2: VAERS has been successfully blocked from further spread on Twitter via “ridicule (Hulk) tweets” or “correlation is not causation (intellectual bullying)” tweets
Hypothesis 3: Twitter shadowbans, censors, and otherwise artificially constrains the spread of information about VAERS
Hypothesis 4: Trust News Initiative have agreed on VAERS blackout
Presumably the vigour with which an idea is censored/blocked/ridiculed points to its value as an idea. How to improve the dissemination of a valuable and yet “counter-narrative” idea, such as the existence and utility of VAERS?
The #TNI methodology allows an individual to think a tweet or post is "successful" but if you review it later it will show up as blocked or banned or false checked. Putting my #TinFoilHat on after reading Glenn Greenwald [https://greenwald.substack.com/p/former-intelligence-officials-citing?s=w] it seems that the information multiplexer/filter, or #KillSwitch, does at least 4 things:
● suppresses critical opposition data & info (denial)
● taints opposition data & info with doubt (confusion)
● promotes party line data & info (propaganda)
● identifies participants for ...
Additionally, as far as #VAERS specifically goes, because of the low reporting rate (estimated at only 1-5%) there is likely to be less face-to-face transmission of the concept. Yes, social media spreads memes, but nothing beats personal transmission of #virality.
