“Who did covid the best?”
Not such an easy question to answer, as covid incorporated many phases and facets. This essay observes excellence in four countries during covid. No, Australia and New Zealand are not among them.
Sweden. From the perspective of overall sanity/madness with relation to lockdowns, Sweden was lionized and villified throughout 2020 for not having closed schools and limiting social gatherings. Interestingly, Sweden did not perform terribly differently in terms of overall mortality than did its Northern European neighbours. This is a finding that is troublesome to Sweden’s fans, who would like to say that lockdowns caused a lot of suffering and death. It is equally troublesome to Sweden’s anti-fans, who would like to say that lockdowns saved a lot of lives.
Denmark. The first country to actually assess whether masks worked for preventing covid transmission via randomized controlled trial (Bangladesh was the second and only other); the first country to markedly restrict the use of covid vaccines.
Thailand had over twelve thousand recipients of compensation for covid vaccine injury as of March 2022. Thailand was so far ahead of any other country regarding vaccine injury compensation at that point that it was startling, shocking. Canada and the United States have struggled to compensate a dozen people each in that time frame.
Uttar Pradesh. This is not a nation, but a state within India (which would be more populous than just about every nation on Earth if it was its own country). This state took an early and assertive approach to treating outpatient covid.
How about you? Who are your covid champions and why?
Please keep posting about this. I want to find a better country for my children and grandchildren to geow up in.
You should look into El Salvador. Because of their great President it was truly a 2 week lockdown and he handed out kits to everyone with C D3 zinc and ivermectin. I think there was something else but I can’t remember. Never mandated anything and let people live and businesses open. Obviously Canada and the US hate him because he’s not bowing down to them.
