I like that you’re looking at medicine differently. It’s refreshing

I’m going to miss your wry humor on Twitter. You always made me laugh.

Good idea on the metabolic medicine. It’ll be very rewarding. Was an interest of mine for several yrs. The diabetic medical complex has lots of money in their models and programs which hasn’t helped many imho, but the paradigm rules.

I have tried Gettr, but it is slow going in terms of finding community. It seems to be quite strongly oriented to American politics at this point. And there is much muuuch less activity of the "make fun-able" kind - no Globe and Mail or CBC posts, no public health doctors talking about petting jaguars (cheetahs?). That is always good fun, although a wisp antisocial..;)

One task for a rainy day is to track down the FiercePharma article wherein it was estimated that the diabetes market would actually *shrink* over years upcoming. Meanwhile, lots and lots to do on the diabetes front

Glad to find you again. Silly Twitter suspending people for presenting facts. Funny thing is it will be the death of them in the end when only disinformation and misinformation is left. Just because it’s the government approved narrative doesn’t mean it’s factual and I think that’s what so many have forgotten including the fragile Twitter moderators.

Would love to see you share some examples of what you’ve been digging into. Metabolic health is an area I’ve been personally trying to improve and I find it hard to know what information is trustworthy in this sphere. (I lack time to dig deep into the literature on the topic but always appreciate some links that point in the right direction)

The problem with metabolics is the granularity, at least so far. Seems like an endless number of enzymes, receptors, and pathways. Working alongside gifted naturopaths has been a help while wading into this morass of detail

Good to find you again. I was wondering what happened and DM'ed you on Twitter. But I'm not able to find the GETTR acct. What's your handle?

Great. Thanks! And, yes, re. your recent GETTR post, there is something weird about GETTR follows. I suspect it's more a result of incompetence than by design. I don't think they have really mastered their software. But I don't use GETTR much. Will check in more frequently now that you're there.

Am trying to sort out how functional and metabolic medicine differ from one another. Thoughts?

Functional encompasses all of medicine, not just the metabolic system. It would open your eyes to other strategies of care just like learning metabolic medicine did for you.

It’s a natural profession from metabolics.

Having been low carb for about 10 years I've converted several friends to that healthier lifestyle - leaving you millions if not billions to work with?! Functional medicine doctors far too thin on the ground here in the UK too.

Not even a concept when I was in medical school in the late 90s. At least not one they taught in school. Not sure if med school has caught up to clinical practice in this regard. A topic for future research
